​My painting of the "Rooster Alarm Coq" was inspired by wisdom of ancient sages who explain that The Master of the universe permitted the rooster to discern exactly when night turns into dawn to awaken our hearts to distinguish between night and day. Morning blessings therefore commence "Blessed are You King of the Universe who gives the rooster understanding to distinguish between day and night".  In Hebrew a rooster  is called  Sechvi a word also meaning heart. This blessing acknowledges that our hearts are awoken each morning with understanding ["Binah"], to discern between important and unimportant in order to do good .
The sages explain that women are gifted with additional understanding (Binah Yetherah) .This makes it especially meaningful for women on awakening  to recite this blessing of thanks for the special female gift of "Binah" enabling nurturing of family and those around to choose between "day and night."

P.S. The rooster is starting to get really hungry . You won't believe what happened when we sat down to eat [neither do I believe it ]... Maybe I was haLULULUcinating .Suddenly we hear this prrrrprprrr coming from the painting .Annie and I went to look ... the chicken was gone ! We went back to dining and were shocked to find our Wiener shnitzel was totally devoured ! We look back to the painting . The rooster gives us a wink and sez , "Trick or treat ! " .. p.s. Gilbert , hope you know how to tame roosters ...

A Chanukah painting to illuminate the whole year around ~ ​"Circle of Light"  depicts the  lighting of the 36 Chanukah lights  by the 36 righteous beings [lamed Vovniks ] whose humble identity may be hidden even from themselves!
Their holy work inspires us "mere mortals "  to proliferate the lights of Chanukah all year round potentially dispelling  all darkness from our world .
